Children with disabilities are often placed into separate environments based on assumptions about what they can handle rather than being given opportunities to build their capacity. Safety matters, but so do inclusion, access to peers, meaningful participation, and the chance to develop skills. A child’s disability should never become a shortcut for deciding what they are capable of.
