An IEP shouldn’t go an entire school year without meaningful special education oversight.
When a student has IEP goals, someone needs to be monitoring progress, looking at the data, and making sure the services and supports written into the plan are actually happening.
That responsibility begins early. ECSE, or Early Childhood Special Education, can provide eligible young children with special education services beginning in the preschool years.
The question isn’t simply whether a student has an IEP on paper. It’s whether the student is actually receiving the support that IEP was designed to provide.
