Who Is Actually Teaching Teachers How to Do IEPs?

When teachers are teaching teachers, how do you know the information being passed down is actually right?

For this educator, learning special education wasn’t a formal process. A colleague taught him how to write IEPs, conduct meetings, and complete the paperwork because someone else had once taught that colleague.

At the same time, he noticed many parents entered IEP meetings without much information about the process themselves.

An IEP meeting shouldn’t simply be something everyone tries to get through in 30 or 45 minutes. Educators need meaningful training, and families need information that helps them understand and participate in the process.
