Is TWO weeks of ESY enough for your child?
Karen explains why parents should question whether their district's Extended School Year (ESY) schedule actually meets their child's individual needs.
ESY isn't supposed to be determined solely by a district's standard summer schedule. The IEP team must consider what services are necessary for the student to receive FAPE.
If the offered program doesn't meet your child's needs, ask about alternative arrangements and consider contacting your State Department of Education.
