“They changed direct services to consult… and called it support.” 👀
Consult services usually mean adults communicating with each other about the student.
That is very different from direct services provided *to* the student.
If a child qualified for special education or related services, the conversation shouldn’t just be:
👉 “What support helps the adults?”
It should also be:
👉 “What direct support does the student still need?”
Consult can absolutely be helpful for teams.
But replacing direct instruction or direct services entirely is a much bigger conversation—and families deserve to clearly understand the difference.
