Regulation Is a Skill, Not an Adult Responsibility We Automatically Master

Being an adult, having a degree, or holding a professional title doesn’t automatically mean someone knows how to regulate their nervous system. Regulation develops through experience, repetition, and opportunities to practice returning to a regulated state. That matters because co-regulation starts with recognizing that adults are still learning, growing, and building this skill too.
